The 4 C’s

Create

We produce and support original cultural work including short films, poetry, immersive gatherings, and participatory media that advances narratives of liberation and repair.

Working with our members and other artists, filmmakers, historians, comedians, and athletes, we shift dominant narratives, spark imagination, and build cultural power that moves hearts, minds, and policy.

Reclamation Day

Reclamation Day

Reclamation Day is a new national ritual where we tell a truer story of the United States, repair our relationships, and rehearse a liberated future.

BLIS held its first Reclamation Day in Brooklyn in 2026 ahead of the 250th anniversary of the United States on the homelands of the Lenape people. Guided by three immersive zones — Reclaim, Repair, Reimagine — guests moved through art installations, film, ritual, food, music, and conversation built by over 50 contributing Black and Indigenous artists, organizers, and movement and cultural leaders.
